Dear Family and Friends:
I have decided to take the plunge again. No, not married, I already did that in October. This time, the venue is the Atlantic Ocean, the date is January 30th, and the location is Long Branch , NJ .
At this point you might be scratching your head wondering why I am jumping into the icy Atlantic, and why of all places at the Jersey shore? Bear with me here, because there’s a good reason for all of this. My goal is to raise money to send kids with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses to Camp Sunshine along with their families.
Nestled alongside the shores of beautiful Sebago Lake ( Casco , ME ), Camp Sunshine provides respite, support, joy and hope to children with life-threatening illnesses and their immediate families through various stages of a child’s illness. The year-round program is free of charge to all families, and includes 24-hour onsite medical and psychosocial support. Bereavement groups are also offered for families who have lost a child to an illness.
The cost to sponsor a family is $1,500. I’m hoping to raise enough to send at least one family to Camp Sunshine in 2010. Any amount you can donate is appreciated.
