Camp Sunshine is a summer camp-style retreat in Casco, Maine, that is designed for children with life threatening illnesses and their families. Camp Sunshine offers a wide variety of activities for children and their families to participate in, as well as housing on the campus. The camp holds week long sessions for families all year round, and thanks to sponsorships and donations, these programs are available to the families free of charge.
For $1,500, one family can spend a week at Camp Sunshine.
I volunteered at Camp Sunshine for the first time in August of 2009 and absolutely fell in love with the place. I had an amazing experience and met all kinds of wonderful people.
This February I will be "freezin' for a reason" at Lake Anne in Reston, Virginia. My fundraising goal for this Polar Plunge is $1,500, with the hope of being able to send one family to Maine to experience the magic, inspiration, and new friendships that Camp Sunshine has to offer.
