As some of you know, I volunteer at Camp Sunshine in Casco, ME. It is a place very close to my heart.
It is a camp for families to go to that have a child with a life threatening disease. It is a few days for the families to leave their worries at the front door and be in a place where everyone understands.
All the children are the same...they are there to have a good time! The child in treatment doesn't have to worry if they have no hair, the siblings are getting tons of attention and the parents are filled with support. There is no laundry, no cookng and most importantly no doctor appointments. Here is where they take a break from life and I have the privilege of helping this happen and share in the magic.
I have grown to appreciate the efforts behind the scenes and money is the main ingredient. It is free for the families to attend this "time out" of life experience. So for this reason, I ask you to support me in my efforts to make it possible for more families to attend this very special place.
This coming January 1st, I will be flying from Chicago to Boston to participate in my first plunge. I am joining many of the great friends I've made over the years, while volunteering.
I am very excited about my upcoming adventure, and thrilled to join the Joey's Plunge family.
